5 Tips for Parents whose Kids Love to Draw
1. Variety of Art Supplies
Encourage your child’s creativity by providing them with a diverse range of art supplies. Offer colored pencils, markers, crayons, watercolor paints, and different types of paper to inspire their imagination and exploration. Having access to a variety of art materials allows your child to experiment with different mediums and techniques, fostering their artistic growth and expression.
2. Create a Dedicated Space
Set up a dedicated drawing area in your home where your child can comfortably unleash their creativity. Make sure it’s well-lit and stocked with their favorite art supplies. Having a designated space can help them feel inspired and motivated to draw regularly.
3. Explore Different Techniques and Styles
Encourage your child to explore a variety of drawing techniques, styles, and subjects to expand their artistic repertoire. Introduce them to different art books, online tutorials, and drawing challenges to help them discover new ways of expressing themselves. In my “How to Draw Magical Adventures” activity book series, I offer a variety of techniques including drawing, crafting, folding, cutting, and glowing, providing endless opportunities for creative exploration and learning.
4. Provide Positive Feedback
I know that it is obvious, but sometimes it is important to remember to focus on praising their effort, creativity, and unique style rather than solely on the final result. This will boost their confidence and motivation to continue drawing.
5. Celebrate Their Art
Celebrate your child’s artwork by displaying their creations around the house or creating a gallery wall dedicated to their drawings. Take an interest in their drawings by asking them about the stories behind their artwork and engaging in conversations about their artistic process.
With my activity books, children will not only learn to draw but also create “Art products” like a gnome bookmark, a mysterious picture where the lady’s eyes move, and a spell that pops out of a cauldron, among others. These creations will inspire children to showcase their art and creations to family and friends, fostering a sense of pride and building confidence in their abilities.
Now, let’s bring it all together!
Let’s blend all these into an Enchanted Crafting Project: “A Pops Out Ghost.” We’ll use various art supplies, create a dedicated space, explore diverse techniques, celebrate achievements, offer positive feedback along the project and boost confidence in showcasing the creation to friends and family.
